About the author
Dee JLC was born in Ithaca, NY in 1977. She grew up just outside of Ithaca, about 20 minutes away in a very rural town. There were only 50 kids in her high school graduating class, if that tells you anything. Dee was adopted at 3 months old, an interesting little story actually (for another time). But small town life was never going to be enough for Dee.
At an early age, she knew that she wanted to be in the creative world. Art, photography, writing, and acting, were all childhood escapes for the girl who was raised as an only child. Dee would go on to receive degrees in Theater Performance, Ancient History, and Legal Studies. This would lead her to leave that small and begin her travels. First, back home to Ithaca, then on to New York City, then Atlanta, and eventually to San Francisco. With several stops along the way.
Dee has appeared in over 100 TV shows and movies as a background actor, including season 1 of Greenleaf as the officer who arrested the Bishop. She has created dozens of canvas art pieces that were also converted to digital artworks. Several of her photographs have been featured in exhibitions throughout the world during the pandemic. She has well over a dozen scripts written and ready to go.
But from September 2019 to February 2020, Dee was homeless. Working 3 jobs, living in her car and hotels with her partner and cat Osiris. It was one of the hardest times in her life. She was able to find a place to live one month before the lock downs started. Those 2 years would change everything.

Masks of 2020
We are still finding our way after the pandemic hit in 2020. Lockdowns changed all of us and how we interact in the world. During that time, Dee JLC finally had the time to get back to her roots - all things creative. She combined her photography portfolio with her love of sewing. She created 3 layered masks that showcased her edited photography. No, the masks were not medical grade, but they were artistic.
Now, Dee JLC has put together a book not only to showcase the masks she created but also as a way to remember the changes that happened worldwide in the last three years. Dee studied history in college, specifically the ancient world. One of the first lessons history students are taught: if you do not learn from history, you are doomed to repeat it. The COVID 19 pandemic taught us valuable lessons about ourselves, society, and so much more. We as a people cannot afford to forget this time. That is what this book is intended to do, to contribute to the collective memory of this dark time in human history. -
Sapphire Art Collection
The Sapphire Art Collection showcases original artwork by Dee JLC. The theme of the collection is the color blue, and all its variations. Some pieces have unique names, while others are just numbers. Several of the original canvas art pieces are for sale as well. The main photos are digital versions of the canvas painting.
The majority of the collection was created during the pandemic, from 2020 to 2022. -
The Urban Decay Photography Collection: Feat. Liberty State Park
The Urban Decay Collections showcases photographs taken and edited by Dee JLC.
All around us, we see evidence of the past, especially when it comes to architecture. The world we live in is always moving forward. Yet there are places where, it seems, that push to the future is forgotten. Instead, the past remains. It is celebrated, flaws and all.
This book features one of these places, Liberty State Park in Jersey City, NJ. The old train station located on the property would have been the second stop for thousands of immigrants after coming to America in the late 1800's and early 1900's. The trains leaving this station would have taken them to their futures in a new country. -

Sometimes it is easier to see the world in black and white. The details are simpler to identify. Limiting the view to two colors allows us to see the truth of what is being shown.
Many of the photos in this book have been showcased in galleries and exhibitions throughout the world, specifically during the pandemic from 2020 to 2022.
