Imagination

Imagination. It was one of the many things that separates us from animals. We all have one, even if some us rarely us it, it is still there. It is built into our DNA. It provides us a way to escape from reality, even if just for a little while. A whole billion dollar industry was built up around imagination. Escapism is necessary for the survival of a human mind. Without it there would be no music, no art, no movies, no books, honestly, we would probably still be living in caves if it weren’t for imagination. Everything that man has created in this world was first an image, an idea, is someone’s mind.

We forget them sometimes I think, especially in this day and age. Technology rules our lives now, yet that tech is just another example of imagination. Anyone else remember the original Star Trek, back in what the 1960’s? Their communicators were basically cell phones. Or their computer screens in The Next Generation back in the late 1980’s and 90’s? They were all Ipads, touch screens. Humans created the space shuttle; we landed a man on the moon. There are people living on a space station right now orbiting the Earth!

All of it was science fiction that came into being in the 20th century. In my lifetime alone so much has changed in this world, all thanks to imagination.
